Once in a while we witness a heated debate on university education fees. The question is brought up every time the government seeks savings . The matter divides the nation as it directly concerns or influences most of the society .
the main and strongest argument of those who supports free university education is constitution. It guarantees equal access to education to everyone. Equal that is independent from the income.
Another important view is that most of the students does actually have to pay for the studies. They have to pay for accommodation as well as food and many other expenditures connected with living in remote city where they study. Not to mention train tickets on travelling home from time to time. These expenditures tot up to quite an important amount. Adding another for rather high one would just be too much for budgets of many of them.
What is more, introducing obligatory fees for every student would convert universities into enterprises and that brings the risk of demanding more and more money. It would be difficult to control if such enterprise calculate fees on just basis.
On the other hand there are free market supporters who see education as investment that in many cases brings lucrative interest . And the many invested in every student is a gift from the government .
To sum up, it would be difficult to introduce such an important change now. It would be recommended to postpone it until the mentality of the society changes and, what is even more important, until the students will be able to pay another fee.
